FAQ
-
When is the legislative session? The legislative session runs from January through May. Opening Day each year by statute is the third Wednesday of January. The interim is spent connecting with constituents and working on district issues, which contributes to adequate preparation for the legislative session.
-
What if I have a legislative idea? You can share ideas for legislation with Rep. Souza, and you can collaborate to potentially get a bill drafted for possible introduction during the bill introduction period during the legislative session. It is best to work on legislation with Rep. Souza during the interim so the bill can be prepared in advance and will be ready for introduction during the appropriate time frame. A bill must be drafted by one of the House drafting agencies. Most bill idea come from our very own community members!
-
How can I get involved in the legislative process?During session, bills are introduced and make its way through the legislative process. This means that hearings are set for bills and you can provide testimony on these bills accordingly.
